       WEBB COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT

     On September 8, 2008, The Webb County Sheriff Department received an anonymous tip through the Crime Stoppers tip hot line.  Deputies were quick to respond to a residence located in south Laredo at the 2200 blk. Of Nautla street , Laredo Texas .  Deputies observed suspicious activity and acted accordingly.  Deputies were met by a Gilbert Garcia DOB 12/11/1968 at his residence. 

     Gilbert, Garcia ,  admitted to having narcotics inside his residence and led Deputies to a  rear bedroom where deputies found over three pounds of cocaine, numerous cocaine diluents, cocaine grinders, digital scales and four thousand dollars in U.S. Currency.  The investigation further led deputies to a shed in the back yard, where Deputies found an estimated four thousand rounds of ammunition, hundreds of gun and rifle ammunition clips.  “Captain Garcia stated at press time deputies still had not finished counting the rounds of ammunition that ranged from 9mm to AK 47 rounds and or ammo clips, It obvious that this was heading for Mexico , and the drugs were staying here in our community. 

     This is another blow to the Drug trafficking organization, who are trying to taint our community”  “Captain Garcia commends the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearm and other Federal Agencies assisting the Webb County Sheriff Department
